The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has achieved a remarkable victory in Kerala's recent Assembly elections, winning 102 seats. This victory marks a significant political comeback after the UDF's defeat in 2021 when the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) broke traditional state politics by retaining power for a second term.

The resurgence is credited to a strategic overhaul initiated by a change in leadership, with V D Satheesan taking the helm as Leader of the Opposition. Under his guidance, UDF adopted an aggressive political stance and focused on building internal cohesion, which began paying off in subsequent elections.

A significant factor in the success was the role of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a key ally. Their strategic campaigns and ability to breach LDF strongholds amplified the anti-incumbency wave, allowing UDF to unite diverse communities and emerge as a formidable political entity in Kerala.
