The Congress Party criticized the Indian government's diplomatic efforts, stating that despite Operation Sindoor, Pakistan did not face isolation similar to post-2008 Mumbai attacks. Pakistan has, in contrast, received praise from the U.S. military establishment.
The first ceasefire announcement, halting Operation Sindoor abruptly on May 10, 2025, came from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Congress emphasized these developments as evidence of continued challenges for India, further highlighting the involvement of the U.S. in this diplomatic arena.
The opposition also reflected on past geopolitical strategies following the Kargil War, criticizing the Modi government's policies regarding China, including loss of patrolling rights in Ladakh amidst increasing Chinese influence and support to Pakistan.
