Canada is strengthening its economic ties with the Philippines by investing $2 million in a major economic hub, as confirmed by Canadian Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu. This initiative is being supported by the United States and Japan and focuses on the Luzon Economic Corridor.
The corridor, positioned on the Philippines' largest island, is set to benefit from increased infrastructure investments from Japan and the U.S. Canada's commitment was announced shortly after the U.S., Japan, and the Philippines expanded the corridor to incorporate seven new partner nations, including South Korea, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Sidhu's discussions with Philippine officials highlighted potential investments in data centers, nuclear energy, and logistics. Furthermore, Canada and the Philippines are progressing toward a free trade agreement, with Sidhu optimistic about concluding talks soon.
