Historic Summit Strengthens China-North Korea Relations
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and China's Xi Jinping met in Pyongyang, agreeing to enhance cooperation in politics, economy, and culture. They pledged to support the One China principle and deepen strategic communication. The summit marked a 'new historical starting point' in bilateral relations, emphasizing friendship and mutual assistance.
In a significant diplomatic encounter, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and China's President Xi Jinping convened in Pyongyang on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation in political, economic, and cultural domains, reported the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Tuesday.
Underscoring the importance of the One China policy, Kim extended his full support, while Xi highlighted his trip's role in advancing bilateral ties, marking his first visit to North Korea in seven years. The two leaders agreed on establishing a robust strategic communication framework through high-level official exchanges.
During Xi's visit, both leaders immersed themselves in an artistic performance and a banquet, celebrating the longstanding China-North Korea friendship. This meeting coincided with the 65th anniversary of the bilateral treaty on friendship, emphasizing the partnership's new historical chapter.
