Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis dismissed speculation on Friday about regional parties merging with the Congress, casting doubt on Congress's ability to attract such alliances. Describing the Congress as a 'sinking ship', Fadnavis expressed confidence in the political acumen of regional leaders.
In a critical social media post, Fadnavis rebuked Raut's comments, questioning his involvement in Congress-related discussions. He likened Raut's remarks to 'Abdullah Diwana at someone else's wedding’, emphasizing Raut's lack of connection to the issue.
Raut suggested that parties like the TMC, NCP, and SP consider a merger with Congress. However, Fadnavis argued that experienced regional leaders would act in their best political interest and dismissed the merger's potential impact, suggesting it would instead create more political space for his party.
