A flash flood has claimed the lives of at least eight people in northern China's Inner Mongolia, according to state news agency Xinhua. The disaster struck on Saturday at approximately 10 p.m. local time (1400 GMT), sweeping away 13 individuals who were camping by the river.
Rescue operations have been underway since the flood, with one person successfully brought to safety. However, four campers remain unaccounted for as search efforts continue in the challenging terrain.
The region, known for its picturesque landscapes, is now the focus of emergency rescue teams as they strive to locate the missing individuals amidst concerns of further weather-related incidents.
