Bezos Earth Fund's $24.5 Million Boost for Marine Conservation

The Bezos Earth Fund has taken a significant step in marine conservation, allocating $24.5 million to safeguard coastal ecosystems in Latin America. This initiative is part of their bold mission to establish the world's first cross-border marine biosphere reserve.

In a bid to assist local communities and organizations in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador, the Fund has made four substantial grants. These efforts are embedded in a larger $1 billion strategy, aligning with a global ambition to preserve 30% of the planet's land and oceans by the year 2030.

Highlighting their commitment, the Fund's largest new grant of $13.85 million will support Re:wild in developing coastal reserves, enhancing habitats for critical marine species. As part of a consortium of philanthropies aiming to provide $5 billion in support, the Bezos Earth Fund leads initiatives to progress the '30 by 30' conservation goals.
