Charlie Woods Faces the Challenge: Misses Cut at U.S. Junior Amateur
Charlie Woods, Tiger Woods' son, scored a 10-over 80, failing to make the cut at the U.S. Junior Amateur with a 22-over total. Despite a better showing on the second day, his performance was disrupted by a storm and challenging course conditions. The event drew large crowds due to his famous father.
Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, shot a 10-over 80 at the U.S. Junior Amateur, missing the cut with a 22-over total through two rounds. Though he showed improvement on day two at the challenging Oakland Hills South Course, inclement weather and course difficulties hampered his performance.
The top 64 players advance to match play beginning Wednesday, and despite Woods' efforts, he finished near the bottom of the 264-player field. A storm delay interrupted his momentum, and a triple bogey on the par-4 18th hole contributed to his disappointing score.
Tiger Woods' presence attracted sizable crowds and police protection, adding to the event's atmosphere. Charlie had previously earned his spot by winning his qualifier with a 1-under 71. As he looks ahead to his sophomore year in high school, he can take solace in knowing he's following in his father's footsteps, who won the U.S. Junior Amateur three times in his youth.
