Luis Díaz's Champions League Ban Reduced on Appeal
Bayern Munich's forward Luis Díaz has successfully appealed his three-game Champions League ban, reducing it to two games. This follows a foul against PSG's Achraf Hakimi. Although Díaz will still miss the match against Sporting Lisbon, he can return to play against Union Saint-Gilloise next month.

Luis Díaz, the forward for Bayern Munich, had his three-game ban in the Champions League reduced to two games after a successful appeal. The ban arose from his reckless foul against Paris Saint-Germain's Achraf Hakimi. UEFA announced Friday that Díaz's appeal for "serious rough play" was upheld, though details were scarce.
As a result of the decision, Díaz will miss Bayern's home game against Sporting Lisbon but will be eligible to return for the following match against Belgium's Union Saint-Gilloise. Díaz notably scored twice in a dramatic 2-1 victory over PSG before he was given a red card for a wild lunge from behind that caught Hakimi.
Despite the reduction, Díaz must serve more than the mandatory one-game suspension for a red card. This contrasts with a recent case involving Cristiano Ronaldo, who received a three-game ban, of which two were suspended, after a foul against Ireland last month. Ronaldo is expected not to miss any games at the beginning of the upcoming World Cup.
