Three days after Monterrey's exit from the Mexican Apertura semifinals, Spanish football star Sergio Ramos has announced his departure from the club. The 39-year-old defender's one-year tenure with Monterrey concluded upon the team's recent elimination.
In a heartfelt social media post, Ramos expressed mixed emotions about leaving. 'It's never easy to say goodbye,' he wrote. Ramos highlighted his journey since February, emphasizing newfound experiences in Mexico that have shaped his career and personal life.
Ramos captained Monterrey in 34 matches, scoring eight goals during his short stint. Known as Rayados, Monterrey ranks among Mexico's wealthiest clubs. Talks between Ramos and the club president, Jose Antonio Noriega, failed to yield a contract extension.
