In a resolute stance against doping, NADA Chairman Anant Kumar underscored the indispensable role of education as the primary defense against doping's evolving threat, during the recent Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network Final Conference.
Despite India's significant challenges with doping in the athletic realm, Kumar expressed optimism for change. He revealed that NADA is intensifying its efforts, nearly doubling its annual testing of athletes since 2019. The agency is also expanding its intelligence efforts in collaboration with WADA and INTERPOL to address the rise in organized crime syndicates involved in doping.
Highlighting the impact of educational initiatives, Kumar pointed out that the 'Know Your Medicine' app is gaining traction, educating athletes about substance use. The partnership with law enforcement has paid dividends, resolving numerous cases through enhanced intelligence and interrogation training.
