Indian Skeet Shooters Fall Short in ISSF World Cup Finals
Indian skeet shooters, including Olympians Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Raiza Dhillon, missed qualifying for the finals at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Despite valiant efforts, both men and women failed to secure top spots, with Mairaj finishing 18th and Raiza 17th overall.
The Indian contingent at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun faced disappointment as none of the skeet shooters made it to the finals. Held at the Asanov Shooting Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the competition saw Olympian Mairaj Ahmad Khan finish highest among Indian men, albeit in 18th spot overall.
Mairaj started in 26th place but improved with scores of 23 and 25 in the final two series, totaling 119 points. Bhavtegh Singh Gill closely followed, securing 19th place with 119 points but a lower rank. Meanwhile, Olympian Anantjeet Singh Naruka shot a perfect opening series but finished 38th, with scores totaling 117.
In the women's category, Raiza Dhillon was India's best performer, landing in 17th place with a score of 115 after consistent shooting. Ganemat Sekhon, who was near the top eight, slipped to 33rd, while others like Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Vanshika Tiwari also struggled to break into the top ranks.
