Venus Williams Teams with Hailey Baptiste for French Open Doubles
Venus Williams, a former world No. 1 and seven-time singles major winner, will compete in women's doubles with Hailey Baptiste at the French Open. At 45, Williams will participate in this prestigious clay-court event, having previously achieved success in both singles and doubles at Roland-Garros.
Veteran tennis star Venus Williams will pair with the young Hailey Baptiste in the Women's Doubles at the upcoming French Open. The tournament, held at the iconic Roland-Garros in western Paris, is set to begin on May 24, and organizers confirmed the pair's participation on Wednesday.
Despite not competing in the singles bracket, the 45-year-old Williams remains a formidable presence on the court. Having previously been a wild-card entry at the Australian Open earlier this year, she was the oldest woman to play in the singles main draw, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.
Williams, a seven-time major champion in singles and former No. 1 in both singles and doubles, has a strong history at the French Open. Alongside her sister Serena, she claimed the doubles title twice, in 1999 and 2010, while also reaching the singles final in 2002.
