The Indian chess squad had a challenging day in Round 6 of Norway Chess, with all players suffering defeats. D Gukesh fell back into a losing trend following a positive previous round, as did R Praggnanandhaa, Divya Deshmukh, and Koneru Humpy, who also faced losses.
Defending champion Magnus Carlsen bounced back with a win and Wesley So surged ahead to lead the tournament. So's victory over Praggnanandhaa secured him 11.5 points overall. Meanwhile, Vincent Keymer took advantage of Gukesh's time pressure to win, showing that the contest remains fiercely open with all eyes on the upcoming rounds.
In the women's matches, Divya Deshmukh lost her lead position after a defeat by Ju Wenjun. Despite this setback, she remains a contender for the top spot. Briasaba Assaubayeva continues to lead, pulling ahead following her victory against Koneru Humpy.
