Lockheed Martin is set to create a significant milestone in India's aviation sector with plans to establish a co-production facility for the C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft. This initiative makes India the first country outside the United States to host such a global hub for the aerospace giant.
In collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems, Lockheed Martin is eyeing a pivotal role in the Indian Air Force's ambitious Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme, which seeks to procure 80 new tactical lift transport aircraft, replacing the aging Soviet-era models.
The strategic move, coupled with the construction of a defense maintenance hub in Bengaluru, underscores Lockheed Martin's strong commitment to enhance India's military capabilities and its own industrial footprint in the region.
