Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the vital role India's linguistic and socio-cultural diversity plays in the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI). Speaking at the 'Lab to Impact' event, Pradhan underscored the importance of original research and self-reliance in technology development.
Pradhan projected AI's potential to add $1.7 trillion to India's economy by 2035, highlighting that AI's value extends beyond economics to national capability. He stated that a 'Viksit Bharat' cannot depend on borrowed ideas but must be built on indigenous research and the capacity to solve large-scale problems.
Stressing the 'Make in India' initiative, Pradhan noted the significant talent within India's institutions and the necessity of robust research systems. He added that AI solutions developed for India could be applied globally, particularly in regions like Africa and Latin America.
