Israel and Greece Strengthen Defense Ties to Combat Drone Threats

Israel and Greece are enhancing their defense collaboration to tackle drone threats in the eastern Mediterranean. This partnership, which involves Israel assisting in developing anti-drone technology, builds upon a defense pact established in December among Greece, Israel, and Cyprus.

Israel and Greece have announced plans to deepen their defense cooperation, focusing on technology to counter swarms of military drones. This move was discussed during a meeting in Athens between Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

The collaboration, part of a December defense pact with Cyprus, highlights Israel's role in assisting Greece to build an air defense shield. This expanded effort aims to counter threats from unmanned aerial and underwater vehicles.

With Greece facing ongoing disputes with Turkey over maritime boundaries and resources, the partnership with Israel is seen as crucial. The December agreement includes joint exercises, special operations training, and strategic consultations to bolster security and energy initiatives.
