Malaysia to Modernize Railways with Chinese Trains

Malaysia's transport ministry announced on Wednesday its intention to acquire new passenger train assets through a leasing agreement with China.
The first phase of this plan, scheduled from 2024 to 2027, involves acquiring 62 new passenger train units. The estimated cost for this phase is 10.7 billion ringgit ($2.42 billion) and will be paid in installments over a 30-year lease period.
This initiative aims to modernize Malaysia's railway infrastructure and improve transportation services.
