Korean Air Unveils New Look Amid Landmark Asiana Merger
Korean Air has launched a new aircraft livery as part of its merger with Asiana Airlines, forming one of the largest carriers in Asia. The rebranding includes a modernized logo and simplified color scheme. The merger positions the combined entity as a major player in global aviation.

Korean Air, on Tuesday, unveiled its new aircraft livery and corporate branding following its merger with South Korean rival Asiana Airlines. This move positions the airline as one of the largest carriers in Asia, with the merger completing a $1.3 billion acquisition of Asiana. The unified entity will operate under the Korean Air identity by 2027.
The airline's revamped branding now features the word 'Korean' in a modern, dark blue font, replacing the full name 'Korean Air.' The fuselage adopts a light blue color with a metallic finish, in line with current minimalist and global branding trends. The updated design retains the airline's iconic taeguk symbol in a streamlined dark blue form.
Asiana, previously debt-laden, joined Korean Air in a deal marked by extensive negotiations due to competition concerns. This merger culminates in a carrier that should account for over half of South Korea's passenger capacity, making it the world's 12th-largest by international capacity. Korean Air's CEO, Walter Cho, emphasizes maintaining high service quality and safety as the airline continues to expand.
