In response to burgeoning air traffic, the Indian government is developing a "template model" to facilitate the construction of new airports. This initiative will cater to cargo and Flying Training Organisations, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu announced on Tuesday.
Currently, India possesses 159 operational airports amidst a rising demand with domestic airlines having placed orders for over 1,700 aircraft. The minister indicated these developments are part of a broader strategy to expand air connectivity and meet the needs of diverse aviation sectors.
Minister Naidu emphasized that while privatization remains a separate issue, the objective is to overcome land constraints and maximize regional connectivity. He assured that regulatory and operational challenges are addressed proactively to ensure the safe and efficient expansion of India's aviation infrastructure.
