India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, announced a substantial increase in the nation's defence production, which has soared from Rs 46,000 crore in 2014 to a staggering Rs 1.51 lakh crore. This tremendous growth marks India's emergence from an import-reliant to a producer-exporter status.
Singh highlighted that ten years of dedicated effort have profoundly shifted the country's manufacturing prowess, thanks to significant technological and infrastructural developments spearheaded by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Among the achievements, Singh emphasized the success in engineering self-reliance with the development of Class-70 modular bridges.
With 356 projects dedicated over the last two years and budget increases, BRO is proving its capacity to build in challenging terrains. The organisation's record expenditure highlights the government's trust in their strategic infrastructure development, crucial for national security and growth.
