In a positive development towards global trade relations, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently conveyed his optimism in concluding a free trade agreement with the European Union. Despite not detailing an exact timeframe, Goyal emphasized the mutual economic benefits anticipated from this deal.
Speaking at the Italy-India Business Forum, Goyal highlighted the reciprocal nature of the agreement. The pact would enable Italy to export its renowned wines and high-end automobiles to the Indian market. In exchange, India will gain access to the European markets for its whiskies, textiles, and auto components.
Both Goyal and Italy's Deputy PM, Antonio Tajani, emphasized the importance of nations collaborating to maintain stable raw material prices globally, advocating for a political accord among major economies. Goyal noted that the emerging partnership between Rome and New Delhi is paving the way for a significant bilateral relationship in the 21st century.
