Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled new baggage regulations in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, reminding passengers of the charges for luggage that exceeds the free allowance limits while traveling by train.
The announcement came in response to a query by MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, who asked whether the Railways would implement regulations for train passengers similar to those at airports.
Vaishnaw detailed the class-wise maximum limits for luggage, allowing additional weight for a fee. He emphasized that merchandise items are not permitted as personal luggage in compartments, reiterating that excess baggage would be directed to the brake van of the trains.
