The debate on the demands for grants for the Education Ministry saw heated exchanges in the Lok Sabha as Opposition members accused the government of threatening children's intellectual integrity by revising textbooks. Congress MP Mohammad Jawed pointed out that the Mughals ruled for 330 years and cannot be erased from history by merely deleting their names from textbooks.
During the debate, sparks flew between treasury and opposition benches. While the opposition criticized the government over issues like paper leaks and NCERT textbook revisions, the BJP lauded the National Education Policy 2020, highlighting its emphasis on skilling, entrepreneurship, innovation, and employment, aimed at transforming India into a developed nation.
Jawed and other MPs accused the BJP of fostering anti-Muslim sentiments to obtain power, while BJP representatives asserted that educational reforms and budgetary provisions would significantly improve the sector. The debate highlighted ongoing tensions over educational content and policy in India.
