Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, issued appointment letters to 51,389 newly recruited teachers on Sunday, marking a significant development in the state's educational sector. These appointments were part of the third phase of the Teachers' Recruitment Examination conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission.
The total number of government teachers in Bihar is now set to swell to 5,65,427, incorporating educators previously appointed by Panchayati Raj Institutions and urban local bodies who passed a competency test. Nitish Kumar emphasized the state's focus on educational development, highlighting that the education budget allocation has reached 22% and will increase further, particularly prioritizing female education.
However, the leader of the opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, critiqued the government's reservation policies, pointing out the lack of implementation in the recent recruitment, which began under the previous Mahagathbandhan government. Yadav called for restoring a 65% reservation for backward communities in state jobs, despite ongoing legal challenges.
