Rajasthan's Education Minister, Madan Dilawar, has appealed to state legislators to allocate 20% of their Local Area Development Fund to repair and renew school infrastructure. This comes amid concerns over the safety and condition of numerous school buildings across the state.
In recent communications, Dilawar highlighted a technical survey revealing that thousands of Rajasthan's schools suffer from severe structural damage. Specifically, 3,768 schools are in a dilapidated state, with tens of thousands of classrooms and toilets deemed unsafe.
Heavy monsoons have exacerbated the situation, prompting an urgent need for funds to safe-proof learning environments. To finance this, legislators are called to dedicate Rs 1 crore each for rebuilding unsafe structures, thereby safeguarding students and enhancing educational outcomes overall.
