Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi has affirmed that the Agniveer scheme is a golden opportunity for youths eager to serve the nation.
A total of 1,389 Agniveers, including 214 women, officially joined the service after completing 16 weeks of intensive training. The scheme offers Indian youths an opportunity to serve in the Navy, Army, and Air Force for at least four years.
Addressing the passing out parade at INS Chilika in Odisha's Khurda district, Tripathi emphasized that the scheme not only provides a chance to serve the nation but also presents various career options after the four-year term. Speaking on other matters, Tripathi maintained that there is no controversy surrounding the Agniveer scheme. He refrained from commenting on the political situation in Bangladesh but assured that security along India's coast remains robust. The Odisha government has put four coastal districts on high alert due to unrest in neighboring Bangladesh, which is merely 200 km away from the Odisha coast by the sea route.
