India and Jamaica signed four significant agreements on Tuesday, further strengthening their collaboration in various sectors, including defence and digital infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in extensive talks with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, focusing on deepening ties, especially in areas like cultural exchange and sports.
Modi reiterated India's commitment to being a reliable partner in Jamaica's development journey, offering expertise in digital public infrastructure, small industries, biofuel, innovation, health, education, and agriculture. The decision to integrate India's UPI with Jamaica's digital payment system was also highlighted.
The prime ministers discussed regional and global concerns, agreeing on the necessity of dialogue for resolving disputes. They emphasized the importance of modernizing global institutions, including the United Nations Security Council. Modi also celebrated the cultural and sporting connections between the two countries, particularly through cricket.
