In a bid to highlight the exceptional Diwali celebrations in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the festival's unique radiance this year. She underscored her administration's dedication to implementing effective anti-pollution measures amidst rising concerns over air quality.
The Supreme Court's decision to permit the restricted use of green firecrackers was praised by Gupta, as it balanced cultural traditions with environmental priorities. However, the opposition AAP criticized the BJP government, linking post-Diwali AQI spikes to their governance.
While acknowledging the severe air quality drop to a 'very poor' level, with AQI peaking at 359, Gupta attributed some of the pollution woes to stubble burning in AAP-governed Punjab, criticizing prior administrations' handling of similar issues. She assured citizens of ongoing efforts, including water sprinklers, smog guns, and electric buses, to mitigate pollution.
