The Jammu and Kashmir government is making concerted efforts to transform the region into a premier destination for filmmakers, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced. This initiative involves collaborating with the Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) to establish the region as a significant player in the filmmaking industry.
During a visit to the IICT campus at the National Film Development Corporation in Mumbai, Abdullah emphasized the importance of creating local talent and post-production capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir. He discussed potential collaborations between IICT and the J&K government, including student exchanges and infrastructure development.
Abdullah hopes to implement the hub-and-spoke model used by IICT, establishing satellite centers in Jammu and Kashmir. This collaboration aims to develop local expertise, reduce production costs, and generate employment opportunities, enhancing J&K's appeal to the global film industry.
