CISF Achieves Gender Parity Milestone with 50% Women IG Officers

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has reached an unprecedented milestone as 50% of its Inspector General (IG) cadre officers are women. This significant stride includes the appointment of four senior women in crucial roles: Shanti Jaidev in the Eastern Sector, Jyoti Sinha at the Department of Atomic Energy and Space, Pratibha Aggarwal in Tech and Provisioning at Headquarters, and Neelima Rani in the Central Sector.

Comprising 16 IG posts, half of which are designated for Indian Police Service officers, CISF boasts eight CISF cadre IG positions, four held by women. The force, charged with safeguarding critical sites like airports and the Delhi Metro, emphasizes its commitment to nurturing female leadership.

The CISF, since its inception in 1969 with a modest strength, is now a robust organization with over 188,000 personnel. Providing security for 350 establishments, including crucial infrastructure, the CISF also offers specialized services such as VIP protection and operates its own Fire Wing.
