Khasi Mandarin, celebrated by exporters as an "exceptional produce of Meghalaya," gained significant attention as the 1st Northeast India Organic Week and the 4th IFOAM World Organic Youth Summit concluded on Monday, emphasizing the state's organic export potential.
Addressing attendees, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stressed the need for "unwavering and coordinated efforts from all stakeholders" to advance the organic mission. He reiterated that "uplifting the farmers of our state and the region" remains a top priority and urged stakeholders to view the event as a stepping stone rather than an endpoint.
APEDA general manager Vinita Sudhanshu emphasized the Northeast's burgeoning role in India's organic sector, noting Meghalaya's inspiring community-driven development. International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements Asia executive director Jennifer Chang hailed Meghalaya as a global model for holistic organic development, applauding the state's harmonization with nature.
