Russian forces have once again targeted Ukraine's critical infrastructure, this time destroying a major energy facility in Kharkiv, the nation's second-largest city. This attack marks a continuing winter offensive by Moscow that has left millions of Ukrainians in a dire state, grappling with darkness and cold.

Kharkiv, located just 25 kilometers from the Russian border, has been under siege by drones, missiles, and glide bombs since the onset of the war, now nearing its fifth anniversary. Regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported that authorities are diligently working to determine the full extent of damage from the latest assault.

The sustained targeting of Ukraine's energy facilities has worsened power outages and disrupted heating and water supplies in key urban areas. Amid a brutal cold snap, Kyiv remains particularly affected following a recent attack that has left approximately 300 apartment buildings without heat, as reported by mayor Vitali Klitschko.
