India and Indonesia Forge Path for Global Standards in Traditional Medicine
India and Indonesia have signed a landmark MoU to enhance traditional medicine quality assurance. The collaboration aims to raise global benchmarks and integrate traditional systems into modern healthcare. The Ministry of Ayush, led by Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav, has announced the signing of a momentous agreement with the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority to enhance quality assurance in traditional medicine. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), exchanged on January 25, 2025, aims to bolster international standards.
Minister Jadhav highlighted the crucial role this collaboration will play in ensuring safety and efficacy in traditional medicines, potentially leading to a more integrated and scientifically regulated framework. Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha emphasized the commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building to strengthen global healthcare.
As part of the strategic partnership, both countries commit to sharing regulatory expertise, conducting capacity-building initiatives, and collaborating on joint training programs. With support from top officials, this historic MoU marks a pivotal point in Indo-Indonesian relations, promising expanded cooperation in traditional medicine.
