In anticipation of a pivotal meeting with North Korea's Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his eagerness to enhance the bilateral partnership. According to China Daily, Xi outlined his expectations in a signed article for North Korea's official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, ahead of a significant state visit scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, marking the first in seven years.
Xi Jinping highlighted the “unbreakable and enduring” friendship between China and North Korea. He noted that the nations stand by each other as 'friendly socialist neighbors' with a shared future. The China Daily report underscored the importance of a shared socialist ideal as a cornerstone of these ties, emphasizing the traditional friendship that has solidified over time.
Stressing the significance of strategic coordination, Xi mentioned the importance of regional and global peace. He cited the historical strategic communication between the countries, indicating a blueprint for future development. Prior to Xi's visit, Kim Yo-jong, the powerful sister of Kim Jong Un, reaffirmed North Korea's irreversible stance as a nuclear-armed state, aiming to keep this matter off the discussion table.
