Scandal Unfolds: U.S. Employee Indicted for Classified Leak
A U.S. government employee, Asif William Rahman, has been indicted following allegations of leaking classified defense information. The leak, associated with pro-Iranian Middle East Spectator's published documents, involves satellite imagery about Israel's plans. Rahman was arrested in Cambodia and is set for trial in Virginia.
An employee of the United States government faces serious charges after being indicted for leaking classified national defense information. The federal court unsealed the indictment on Wednesday, charging Asif William Rahman with two counts of knowingly transmitting sensitive materials.
While the indictment does not specify the details of the leak, it mentions that the information, allegedly shared around October 17, coincided with a pro-Iranian Telegram channel 'Middle East Spectator' releasing documents from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. These documents reportedly detailed Israel's military strategies towards Iran.
The intelligence originated from satellite imagery dated October 15-16. The Middle East Spectator has clarified it obtained the documents from an anonymous source and claimed no connection with Rahman. Arrested in Cambodia on November 12, Rahman is expected to appear in court in Guam on November 14 before standing trial in Virginia.
