In a significant development, a local court has ordered the Delhi Police to file a first information report (FIR) against former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders. They are accused of improperly using public funds to display large hoardings across the city.
The decision comes after Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal reviewed an application suggesting violations under section 156(3) Cr.P.C. The court directed immediate action under section 3 of the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007, based on the provided evidence.
The complaint, originally filed in 2019, targeted Kejriwal, former Matiala MLA Gulab Singh, and then-Dwarka A ward councilor Nitika Sharma. They allegedly used public money to erect oversized hoardings, defacing various locations in the national capital.
