An airstrike reportedly carried out by the Sudanese military devastated a local market in Sudan's western region, causing a massive fire and leaving at least 54 people dead, according to aid organizations on Tuesday. The military, however, dismissed claims of targeting civilians.
The attack occurred on Monday in the village of Tora, situated north of el-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur province. This information was confirmed by Adam Rejal, a spokesperson for the General Coordination, an organization assisting displaced individuals in Darfur.
Despite the military's denial of allegations, the incident has drawn significant attention from humanitarian groups, deepening the ongoing crisis in the region and raising alarms over civilian safety.
