With December 6 approaching, security has been significantly heightened across Uttar Pradesh, marking the sensitive anniversary of the 1992 Babri mosque demolition. Ayodhya and Mathura, known for their historical and religious significance, have placed their police forces on maximum alert. Enhanced measures are also being implemented in Varanasi, Lucknow, Meerut, Aligarh, Agra, Kanpur, and Prayagraj, officials said on Friday.

In Ayodhya, home to a newly constructed Ram temple following a Supreme Court verdict, police confirm additional surveillance has been operational since December 4. Ayodhya SSP Gaurav Grover stated that all police stations have been instructed to stay vigilant, emphasizing the effort to maintain public convenience during this security surge. Extensive checks of accommodations and vehicles entering the city are ongoing, supported by increased foot patrols, especially near the Ram temple area.

Similarly, in Mathura, where the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute is a point of contention, enhanced security measures have been put in place. Agra Range DIG Shailesh Kumar Pandey led a review of the arrangements and conducted a foot march to reassure the public. Statewide, police presence is heightened at key transit points and public spaces in response to past incidents and potential threats, ensuring that December 6 remains peaceful and secure.
