Lal Mohan Singh, a dedicated biology teacher assigned as a booth level officer, tragically passed away from a brain haemorrhage. The incident occurred at his residence in Nehru Nagar, Modinagar, during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, officials have confirmed.
The district administration disclosed that Singh worked at Modi Science and Commerce Inter College. The college principal, Satish Chand Agarwal, suggested that Singh endured immense pressure from meticulous door-to-door verification tasks. The administration's insistence on completing the work 'at any cost' reportedly exacerbated his stress.
This tragedy reflects a concerning pattern in Uttar Pradesh, where the Special Intensive Revision process has sparked numerous stress-related fatalities and suicides among officials. As the electoral roll updates continue, the burden on these officers becomes increasingly apparent, raising significant concerns about their working conditions.
