A man in Maharashtra's Thane was arrested for using a fake railway pass created via the UTS app. Caught during a ticket inspection, he was brought in for questioning, where he claimed a friend sent him the fake pass through WhatsApp. He faces charges of cheating and forgery.

A 20-year-old man from Thane, Maharashtra, was apprehended for using a counterfeit railway pass, according to officials. The pass was reportedly generated through the UTS mobile ticketing app.

While traveling on the Dadar-Ambernath fast AC local train, a ticket inspection revealed the digital pass he showcased via WhatsApp was fraudulent, shared by a Government Railway Police (GRP) official.

Brought to the GRP police station after disembarking at Thane station, the accused alleged that a friend had sent him the fake pass. He now faces charges of cheating and forgery, the police confirmed.
