India inaugurated its new, modern Consulate building in Shanghai, marking its first relocation in 32 years within China's key business hub. The Consulate aims to enhance services for India's business community and strengthen India-China diplomatic ties, aligning with broader goals of improved bilateral relations.

On Sunday, India unveiled its state-of-the-art Consulate building in Shanghai, a significant move marking its first relocation in the city in 32 years. The consulate will cater to the growing Indian business community in China's eastern regions.
The new chancery, located in the Dawning Centre in Changning District, spans over 1,436 sqm, doubling the size of its predecessor. Indian Ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, officially opened the facility, pointing to its importance amid the 75th year of India-China diplomatic relations.
The inauguration witnessed a gathering of over 400 guests including diplomatic representatives and members of the Indian diaspora. Consul General Pratik Mathur highlighted the enhanced facilities aimed at streamlining services and fostering deeper commercial and cultural ties. This move aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision for inclusive governance, emphasizing improved bilateral exchanges and connectivity.
