Alina Habba, once a lawyer for Donald Trump and later appointed as New Jersey's top federal prosecutor, has stepped down. Her resignation follows a ruling from a federal appeals court deeming her appointment unlawful.
In a statement on X, Habba explained her departure as an effort to maintain the office's stability and integrity amid ongoing legal challenges.
Transitioning to a new role, she will serve as a senior adviser to Attorney General Pam Bondi, overseeing U.S. Attorneys nationwide. Meanwhile, the Justice Department appointed three new leaders for the New Jersey office.
