Turkish National Caught Smuggling Currency at IGI Airport
Customs officials at IGI Airport seized foreign currency valued at Rs 27,74,100 from a Turkish passenger en route to Istanbul. The money, hidden within books, included Euros and USD amounts, and was detected during a random profiling exercise. The passenger admitted intent to smuggle the currency.

A Turkish national was intercepted at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for attempting to smuggle foreign currency worth Rs 27,74,100, customs officials confirmed Tuesday.
The seized amount included 23,750 Euros and USD 3,500, discreetly hidden within book pages in the check-in baggage. The airport's Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) detected the currency during a routine random screening at Terminal 3.
Officials interrogated the passenger, who confessed to smuggling intentions. Authorities have seized the currency under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, and initiated further investigation into the case.
