The tragic mass shooting at Sydney's Bondi Beach has claimed the lives of 15 individuals during a Hanukkah celebration. Authorities have identified the assailants as a father and son duo, Sajid Akram and Naveed Akram, respectively.
Sajid Akram, originally from Hyderabad, India, migrated to Australia 27 years ago in search of better employment opportunities after completing his B.Com degree. Despite his origins, the Telangana Police clarify that neither his nor his son's radicalization bore any connection to local influences in India.
Australia's federal police commissioner, Krissy Barrett, stated that the attack was a terrorist act inspired by the Islamic State. Sajid was killed during the incident, while his son Naveed is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
