The Czech Republic has announced plans to supply Ukraine with combat planes capable of neutralizing drones, as disclosed by President Petr Pavel during a meeting in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. While specific types of aircraft were not detailed, past discussions had suggested the provision of Czech-made L-159 fighter jets.
President Pavel emphasized the potential quick transfer of several medium combat planes specializing in drone defense and suggested possible additional deployment of early-warning systems, including passive radars. His comments were made at a joint press conference alongside President Zelenskiy, reflecting continued Czech support for Ukraine.
Pavel, with his background as a former army general and NATO Military Committee head, has been a vocal advocate for aiding Ukraine. The Czech government, despite pledging not to engage national funds, remains committed to initiatives backed by Western donors, supplying Kyiv with large-caliber ammunition and equipment like tanks and helicopters.
