Prominent Pakistani Cleric's Assassination Sparks Outrage and Protests
A well-known religious scholar, Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Idrees, was shot dead in a targeted attack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Sheikh-ul-Hadith Maulana Muhammad Idrees, a respected religious scholar in Pakistan, was fatally shot during a planned ambush in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday. The attack took place as Idrees was en route to deliver a religious lecture at Darul Uloom Utmanzai, leaving two of his security guards injured.
The assassination has ignited protests throughout the region, with demonstrators marching through Charsadda city and staging a significant sit-in at Farooq-e-Azam Chowk. The local populace, deeply aggrieved by the loss, is demanding immediate justice for the cleric's murder.
Authorities, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, have condemned the attack. They have initiated directives for a thorough investigation and have pledged swift action to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
