India is already a formidable power and is set to assume an even bigger role as a global peace advocate, according to Nobel Peace Prize Committee Deputy Leader Asle Toje.
Speaking at an event organized by the Pahle India Foundation (PIF), Toje referenced a PwC report that forecasts India becoming the world's largest economy by 2050.
Toje asserted, ''India is a great power already today. It will be a greater power, and everybody knows it.'' He emphasized that India, identified as a juggernaut, has the potential to take center stage in propagating peace worldwide. Highlighting India's capacity to be a benign and kind state, Toje urged that the country should aim to broker peace rather than imposing its ideals forcefully on others.
''You have no idea of the power of this country. You will see it in your lifetime,'' stated Toje, an international relations expert, punctuating his belief in India's peaceful ascent. He added that India does not need to form alliances or deploy troops abroad to assert its influence or pressurize other nations.
