Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, speaking at an election rally in Ramban, vehemently advocated for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood. He argued that the withdrawal of the region's autonomous status has eroded its identity and deprived its people of their rights and resources.
Gandhi criticized the BJP's stance on holding elections before discussing statehood. He assured the audience that his party would exert pressure to ensure statehood is returned, regardless of the BJP's position. Drawing a parallel between historical and current governance, he likened the current administration to monarchical rule.
Highlighting his 'Bharat Jodo Yatra,' Gandhi underscored the ideological battle between Congress and the BJP. He also pledged to fill all government vacancies, extend the age limit to 40 years, and regularize daily wage workers if Congress comes to power. The elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the first since the abrogation of Article 370, will be conducted in September and October, with results announced on October 8.
