The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in the Haryana municipal elections, clinching nine mayoral seats, marking a notable triumph for the party. Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Bhupinder Singh Hooda downplayed the BJP's win, emphasizing that local elections are often influenced by independent candidates and not deeply contested by major parties.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, however, described the outcome as pivotal to supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Viksit Bharat' vision. He emphasized the local body's role in promoting development through a cooperative 'triple-engine government' framework involving national, state, and local bodies.
In Faridabad, newly elected Mayor Parveen Joshi expressed appreciation to voters and highlighted her commitment to tackling local issues, such as water supply and waste management, with assurance from Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar that governmental support would be forthcoming. Her victory over Congress's Lata Rani by an impressive margin underscored public confidence in her leadership.
